Dedicated to Linda Granny Faye AKA: The Alaskan Biker/Fannie Mae
My very best friend from “back in the day”
Has decided in her Golden years to put on a display Her grandchildren have chosen to call her Granny Faye
But I choose to affectionately call her Fannie Mae
You’d never know this proud southern girl from Georgia Would end up riding through the open and wild just to show ya That age is just a number and she’s headed to Alaska With the love of her life who’s an avid two-seated cycle biker
Yes, Jimmy and Linda have always been star gazers Another friend, Angela, and I witnessed this as teenagers When we spied, it wasn’t a star that showed there were dangers The twinkle in their eye proved they were in love and not strangers
I thought she had lost her mind when she moved to Colorado to live in the snow But there’s more to this girl from Turin than you or I will ever know
She graduated from ECHS and learned skills such as crocheting and how to sew She climbs mountains with great muster and much more she would love to show
She’s giving up her makeup, daily showers and “fixing” her hair
To take this leap of faith to travel and bring home memories to share Together these two adventurers go to unknown places no others would dare But part of their family, Smudgie and Dixie, are left home much to their despair
Now known as Granny Faye and MiMi, we’ve made many histories We’ve proved blondes are not dumb, love each other, but have many mysteries We share cherished memories and many have said we could pass for sisters We get along very well most times, but at other times we are pistols
So now, my friend when you take this trip, stay out of trouble and go with peace Be happy, stay safe, and know that if you need us we are within your reach Keep in touch, take many pictures, stay dry, and I don’t mean to preach
But you have to come back to your day job and Pappy Jim has to teach

Who’d thought when we were running around barefoot on the country dirt roads in Turin, GA that you’d be pedaling to Alaska one day and I’d write a poem to send you and Jimmy off on this adventure. There are sooo many treasured memories we could share because we are lifetime friends and have always been like sisters. OMG how things have changed! Wish I were with ya’ll, ‘cept my dancing legs haven’t had much practice lately and not toned to be a pedal pusher, but I would fit in a side bucket just fine:) I promise I wouldn’t ask “are we there yet” too many times! Take care and keep up the good cycling. Love ya’ll:)
Betty, this is so sweet! It makes me want to cry! We have shared a lot of good and sad times and I know we will share a lot more. Love you!
