Linda is the Student Accounts Clerk at the Alpine Campus of Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. She moved from Senoia, GA to Steamboat to be with Jimmy in 2004. A veteran of three BRAGs (Bicycle Ride Across Georgia) in 2008, 2010, and 2011, she loves to ride the mountains and valleys of Colorado on their sweet recumbent tandem. She told Jimmy that if he ever rode back to Alaska on a bike, she wanted to go with him. That’s when they got their tandem bicycle and began training and planning for this trans-continental journey.

Jimmy is the professor of Physical Sciences at CMC’s Alpine Campus in Steamboat, teaching all of the Astronomy and Physics courses there. He moved from Georgia to Colorado in 1998. Jimmy’s first bike ride to Alaska was from Young Harris, GA to Anchorage in the Summer of 1993, with his kitten Charlotte. That trip covered 4500 miles in 57 days. Ten years later, in the Summer of 2003, Jimmy made the trip again, this time from Steamboat Springs to Anchorage with his kitten Dixie Doodle. That trip covered 3300 miles in 37 days.

Now, twenty years after that first ride, Alaska is calling again. Jimmy and Linda will roll out of Steamboat Springs on Sunday May 26, 2013, headed for Anchorage. This journey, as planned, will cover 3300 miles in 50 days.

Visit this page often to follow Jimmy and Linda on their Alaska trek, as new pictures and stories will be posted daily or when possible. Your thoughts, prayers, and comments will help speed them on their way!

  3. Hi Jimmy and Linda,

I’ve enjoyed your daily entries on your travels to Anchorage. How fortunate you were to get beyond Canmore and Banff before The Great Flood.
I’m the cyclist who chatted with you just as you were getting ready to leave Okotoks.
Continued safe travels as you approach your journey’s end.

    Rick
