Day 1 Complete!

Day 1 from Steamboat to Craig was a success!  Here are some photos from the day.

We left the college at 10:00. Mary came to send us off. What a pleasant surprise! Started having problems with my left knee about 15 miles from Craig. We rested at a rest area and I stretched it out. Much better.

Gina had invited us to stay at a little apartment that belongs to St. Michael’s Church. Gina and George greeted us with smiles on their faces. George really liked the bike. They let us borrow their car to go and get something to eat.

It was a good start to the trip.

  1. Jimmy, looking at the mounting of your pedals, you don’t get a lot of benefit from your weight pressing down as you get with a regular bicycle. Doesn’t that create a lot more stress on the legs? It seems you are having to use a lot more muscle because you aren’t pressing down on the pedals with your body weight.

    • Yep, lot more leg muscle involved, however the tradeoff for not using your weight is that you can get your back into the seat and use that as leverage to push.
