Day 35 Pictures

Tok is where I leave the AK Hwy after 1313 miles from Dawson Creek and take the Tok Cut-Off (Hwy 1) to Glennallan

The first 17 miles out of Tok are nice and flat, but then the mountains of the Alaska Range get in the way!

Following the Tok River up the mountains

Ooooooo! I want to CLIMB that one!

Last year's earthquake in AK ruined about 15 miles of the hwy near Mentasta Pass (at left). Now, road repairs leave us with miles of dust and tough gravel-covered road

That's Mentasta Pass where we cross the Alaska Range

Notice the leaning trees and grass. That's what a 25 mph head wind will do! The mountains of the Wrangell Range rise in the background

Meet Mt. Sanford, 16,273 ft high! Amazing to see!

Wind, rain, and gravel road. They don't make it EASY to get to Anchorage!

The Big Guy in the clouds is Mt. Drum, 12,010 ft high
